So, she asks the first question: "Who said 'I regret that I have but one life to give for my country' and under what conditions?"
Nothing - finally, Yoshi, a Japanese kid in the first row raises his hand - she nods to him, so he stands and says: "Nathan Hale said that when the British were about to hang him for treason."
The teacher is really impressed and says: "OK Yoshi, that's right, you can go home now."
He packs his knapsack and leaves.
The following Friday she asks: "Who said 'Damn the Torpedoes, full speed ahead!'?"
Nothing, 'till Yoshi raises his hand and answers: "That was admiral Farragut at the battle of New Orleans."
And he's off for a long weekend.
Now, the teacher decides that maybe she should ask more recent historical questions, so the following Friday she asks: "Who said 'Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!'?"
Nothing, 'til Yoshi raises his hand and says: "President John F. Kennedy said that at his inauguration in 1960."
The teacher, now extremely frustrated, says: "I think that its a disgrace that all of you students, born and raised here, know none of the answers, but Yoshi, a boy raised in Japan was able to answer them all!"
After a pause, a loud voice from the back of the classroom rings out: "FUCK the Japs!"
The teacher, appalled, jumps up and shouts: "Who said that?!"
Yoshi stands up and says: "President Harry S. Truman said that on August 6th 1945!"
